Not Again.

Last year, we spent a good part of Memorial Day in the Tooele emergency room due to Heber's adventures with a hammock stand. You should go back and read about it. It was several hours and even more hundreds of dollars for the three stitches he received.

Neither of us ever imagined that we might have to spend a second year in a row in the ER with the other weekend warriors and motorcyclist mishaps. I tell you, it was close.

As you know, I am allergic to dust mites and sagebrush. I have been getting shots for the past couple of years to try to cure me (a whole other story for another time). Never have I had a major allergic reaction outside of the doctors office. This weekend that all changed.

I was out with Mom L. to help her move Grandma Barbara into her beautiful new home. They had reserved a storage unit on the outskirts of town called Burmister. Lucky for me the units are right in the middle of sagebrush central and due to the nature of storage units, there was dust everywhere. I was helping to move the items and my nose started to run (sadly, not that unusual for me) and then the wind started blowing. By the time we loaded back into the truck I was in the midst of a full blown attack with my throat swelling up. I picked just the right weekend not to bring my epi pen. My mom worried we might have to make a second trip to the ER.

I took some benedril and things thankfully calmed down. The only downside was the coma I was in for the whole ride home. Good thing Heber was around to drive. So that was our Memorial Day, I'd hate to make it a tradition to spend it in the ER.
