Home

What is home?  We're reaching our 2 year mark here in Virginia and I've been thinking about that a lot.  Is home where you grew up?  If this is the case, Leo and I will call different places home.  Is it where you spent the most time as an adult?  Can anywhere be home?

The longer I am here, the more I realize that home is where my family is.  Wherever Heb, Leo and I are will be home.  One of the hardest things about moving from my childhood home is missing the opportunities to be with my extended family.  I'm not complaining or being sad, I'm stating that there will always be parts of moving that are hard (if you've ever done it before you know what I'm talking about).

I grew up with a very close family.  My grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, were all very involved in my life.  I saw them almost daily.  Many of them were very influential in my life.  A couple weeks ago (geez, has it been that long?) my mom, Grandma, Aunt and cousin came into town.  It was a real treat to have my people here.  We really enjoyed catching up on what's been going on.  There are few people in the world who know me like they do, having been there my whole life.

I never thought I'd ever see my Grandma in Washington DC.

The highlight of the whole trip was the Air and Space Museum.  Usually that's Heber's favorite but I had the best time watching Leo.  He was so thrilled to be there and kept pointing and running and looking.  We're discovering what he likes.
