Blessings

We flew home to our mountains last week.  It was pretty much the worst trip ever - the flight I mean.  Oy.  Delays, mechanical problems...it all led to us getting there at 3 in the morning (which is like 5 am Eastern time).  My poor parents picked us up at the airport THAT late.  At least we made it.  I guess.

We went out to bless our babe.  I was the most excited to introduce our guy to all of our family and our friends.   There are so many people in the area that have played important parts in our lives and we couldn't wait to share our Leo with all of them.

We held the blessing at my parents home and we had quite the crowd out to support.  To all of those who came out, thanks for making the drive through the snow.

We had old friends from high school that we're still close to, the infamous Hawks family (our old neighbors) and quite a good showing of family from both sides.

We met little Oliver (one of Heb's cousin's baby).

My brother, Matt, drove 6 hours up from Southern Utah for the day.

Brandi and Tally (my cousins) even showed up and they had had a baby four days before. If only Heb and I had gotten more than four hours of sleep....

It was a sweet blessing and one that I'll remember.  When Heb and I had a miscarriage, it was the baby blessings that were the hardest.  We'd watch the new little one be blessed and I would grieve that we might never have that experience.  But we did.  We have our little Leo and we're so thankful.

Mom L. sewed his outfit on a custom order.  We wanted him to have a button up shirt and slacks.  I sewed the bowtie.  Bow ties are a Heber tradition.  The Green's always pull them out for special occasions.  And I found sweet leather white shoes (at completely the last minute...but soo glad I found them).  We also had a special blanket sewed by Aunt Mel with tatting by Grandma Barbara (a very special traditional pattern).

So glad you got to do this! Baby blessings are so special and Leo definitely looked cute in his outfit.

How truly beautiful!!!! What a special, special day! Not only for you and Heb but for your entire family!!!! So glad you were able to come "home" to do it!!!! Your family is wonderful, I have always loved them- and you!!! Congrats on the blessing day!
(on a side note, I completely understand your feelings of mourning at baby blessings and the like...after we lost our #3, I was very emotional at baby blessings, so thankful Heavenly Father sent me my #4 to heal my heart...and He sent you precious little Leo)
