A Green Thumb

I do not have a green thumb. Really. I have never really been that interested in plants. I love receiving flowers and going to botanical gardens but I just haven't reached the point in my life where I want to have a garden that I take care of.

When I was young, my family always had a garden and many hours were spent out in the garden but I just don't really like being out in the dirt so much. I blame it on being very white with a tendency to burn and having allergies.

Luckily, I am married to a guy who likes to plant and cultivate. He is more than willing to plant, fertilize and water the plants. The past several years he has even lovingly cared for tomato plants (my favorite) when he can't stand the taste. That is real love.

On Saturday, we caught the spring bug. We made our way down to our local nursery (I like being able to shop locally) and filled a basket with flowers, peppers, tomatoes and lemon cucumbers. Now we just have to wait for it to warm up enough to plant them outside in our pot garden on the back porch. This means summer is on it's way!

I remember your families garden, always very impressive. I too had the family garden chore- and have never developed the love for gardening myself...but I LOVE fresh veggies...maybe I'll make the trek up to visit you and steal some of yours ;)!!! Good luck on the gardening guys!!!
